This was my first venture into salt water fly fishing after chasing trout for decades. My fishing partner is a native of New Orleans so I got to experience the city and enjoy the wonderful food in ways that ordinary tourists don't.

We were really fortunate in getting a couple of beautiful days - sunshine and temps near 80 with little winds. Greg Moon had us on fish both days, and was a patient instructor in the ways of fly fishing for redfish. He is a also great guy to spend time with on the water. One really notable thing about Greg is his rig. It is all first class and he keeps it immaculate.

I've fished with a lot of guides over the years. In fact, my son is a guide Montana, and I would certainly recommend Uptown Angler and Greg Moon to anyone heading to New Orleans. (Posted on 3/3/11)

I want to thank the crew at Uptown for an amazing week of fishing and fun in the city! Their guides proved to be beyond knowledgeable about the waters, fish and even what to do while off the boat. Out accommodations were centrally located to he shop and Burbon street which made all of the logsitcs- from meeting the guides to catching a show (Willie Nelson at The House of Blues) effortless.

I cant wait to get back!!! The sight fishing is insane! Red fish charge the fly and inhale it. The top water bite was of the charts and will be the way I fish for them moving forward.

1. On my recent visit to New Orleans it was significantly colder than expected. Upon my arrival. I started to fear that my fishing opportunities would possibly get extinguished by the weather. Once I learned the forecast for Sunday, February 14th I wanted to book a boat. My initial inquiry on Sunday was to see if there was a cancellation, as I was told everything was booked. Thank you Jim for returning my calls.

2. I found John Iverson to be very nice, super competent and overall an excellent Fishing Guide. He made me feel comfortable and welcome. After my successful fishing with John and feeling supported and safe I thought it made the most sense to book another day requesting John as my Fishing Guide. Had I known in advance how much I was going to enjoy the fishing I would have booked a third day.

In conclusion, my experience was exceptional. Please relay my thanks to John. Also, please note that the Chef at GW Fins agreed to cook my Redfish the last night of my visit. The Chef greeted me at the entrance and offered, unsolicited, to serve three different preparations, all were amazing. I called all around the city and GW Fins was the only place willing to cook the fish.

I hope to visit New Orleans again in the next year, I am not certain which month. But I know for sure I look forward to fishing with Uptown Anglers again! Thanks!
