We Carry Only THE BEST STUFF

More deep, clean water in St Bernard Parish

Place: St. Bernard Parish, September 28, 2009

Weather: Partly cloudy, low 90's, wind WNW 10-14knots

Fishing: Van Boyette, Jamie Smith, Jim Smith

Water: Water clarity was moderate to good. In some places: very good

Marine: Lots of baitfish, shrimp, mullet in the marsh and bays

Tide: Very high. One foot above normal.

We started at 5:45 am this morning and arrived at Penny's 35 minutes after that. After a good breakfast and 2 shrimp poboys for Jamie, we were off and fishing 30 minutes later.

We decided to go deep into the marsh. With this very high water our thinking was that the fish would push up into the marsh. Ten minutes from the launch and fifteen minutes later Van was on a 28 inch redfish. We were hooked up and the sun was still low in the sky. Still too early to effectively sight cast reds.

We moved around alot and found good water clarity in most places. And we found fish. The redfish came in singles today. They were all good fish in the 28 plus range with a few monsters lurking out there.

The most encouraging fishing came right at the end when we fishing big shorelines, laden with oyster shells and reefs. The water was very clear, but we didn't see that many reds. It was just past the middle of the day. And we will be back. Those shorelines hold fish and big fish is my guess.

Great looking water. Enjoy the pictures. It was a good day to be on the water.
